U.S. News & World Report has recognized Park Vista, a health center in Fullerton, Ca., as one of the 2023-24 Best Nursing Homes in the country. Park Vista is among the 19% of the U.S. skilled-nursing  facilities that have been recognized as a Best Nursing Home by the U.S. News & World Report.

Park Vista earned the Best Nursing Homes status by achieving a rating of “High Performing,” the highest possible rating for short-term rehabilitation and long-term care. U.S. News gives the designation of Best Nursing Home only to those communities that satisfy the U.S. News’s assessment of the appropriate use of key medical care services and consistent performance in quality measures.

“This is an exceptional achievement for our team,” said Haidy Andrawes, Administrator at Park Vista. “Quality is always the ultimate measure of a senior living community’s success and our team works hard to provide outstanding care to our residents and their loved ones. We’re proud of this well-deserved award.”

Now in its 14th year, the U.S. News Best Nursing Homes rating and profiles offer comprehensive information about care, safety, health inspections, staffing, and more for nearly all the nation’s 15,000-plus nursing homes. The Best Nursing Home ratings reflect the U.S. News’ exclusive analysis of publicly available data using a methodology defined by the U.S. News that evaluates factors that it has determined most greatly impacts older adults’ care, safety, and outcomes.

This year, the report also reviewed other indicators of quality in outcomes – such as infection rates, staffing levels, potentially inappropriate reliance on antipsychotic drugs, and health inspection results.

“U.S. News’ Best Nursing Homes ratings give patients, senior residents, their families and caregivers an objective assessment of quality, to help them choose the facility that best fits their individual needs,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News. “Nursing homes that have earned the recognition of U.S. News Have a track record of achieving better outcomes for patients and residents, and maximizing the amount of care they receive from nurses and other staff.”

The Best Nursing Home finder features ratings on both long-term and short-term care. The long-term care rating aims to provide prospective family members and residents who need help with activities for daily living, with analysis and information regarding the quality of care provided by nursing homes. The rating includes data on staffing, success in preventing ER visits, and pneumonia vaccination rates, among the metrics. The short-term rating incorporates measures of quality including consistency of registered nurse staffing, use of antipsychotic drugs, and success in preventing falls.

The short-term rating aims to provide patients in need of intensive rehabilitation or nursing home care services before they return home after a surgery, stroke accident or illness.

U.S. News has published an information page summarizing the Best Nursing Homes methodology, ratings, and awards.
